What is a niche?
A niche is a specialized segment of the market for a particular kind of product or service.
"he believes he has found a niche in the market"
In a previous blog post, I mentioned that I didn't have a clue what my niche was and I still don't. It's a toss-up between natural hair and writing. Both elements are a part of me. Currently, natural hair is easier for me to think of topics for and write about, but I'm scared to stick myself permanently into that box. I find myself going back and forth between writing and natural hair advice.
This is a dilemma for me because I often hear about blogs needing to focus on a single niche because it's easier to gain an audience and stick with that audience which I understand. If a blog is all over the place, then there's no consistency. Readers tend to come back for consistency and change is rarely accepted readily.
Knowing this, it's still hard to choose one niche and stick with it. A few months ago, I said I would try things out and see where they went. I've come to the realization that I mostly write about either natural hair or writing; only sometimes stemming away from that.
There's no way I could choose between the two niches because they're both important to me. I enjoy writing about my experiences as well which is why I decided to break Thirsty Writer into three categories: Writing, Natural Hair, and Life. This way my readers can go precisely to the content that they're looking for.
This might not be the easier way, but this method might be my way.
So if you are new here, then welcome to multi-niche blog called Thirsty Writer, where a girl is dying to write soemthing.
If you too are a blogger, let me know in the comments down what below what your niche is and how you to decided on which niche to pursue.
